FOS’s Street Lamp is the original, full-scale work in his ongoing lamp series – a piece of public infrastructure quietly relocated indoors. A rough cast concrete base, weighty and irregular, holds the work to the floor. From it rises a slender vertical post, jointed with a horizontal arm; at the end of the arm, a hand-formed brass shade curls downward and returns the light in a warm gold. The later Petite Street Lamp was developed from this original.
Versions of the Street Lamp have been shown at Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen and in Céline stores around the world, where FOS’s long collaboration with the house gave his social-design practice an unusually public stage. Here the same form is scaled for a hallway, a stairwell, or a corner of a larger room.
Made to order in three heights: Medium (250 × 80 cm), Large (260 × 80 cm), and X-Large (290 × 80 cm). A colour-tinted concrete base is optional, allowing the work to find its own register against the room it stands in.
