Columns by Sabine Marcelis

The Candy Column extends the logic of the Candy Cube series into a vertical form – the same rigorous material investigation, shifted into a different register entirely. First unveiled at Life in Vogue in Milan, the glossy resin columns created a dynamic mise-en-scène  that made immediately clear this was not furniture in any conventional sense. It was closer to an encounter.

Cast in high-polished polyester resin, the columns carry the same translucent, light-sensitive quality that defines Marcelis’ practice  –  edges that glow, surfaces that shift with the light around them. The cylinder is among the most archetypal forms in architecture and design history. Marcelis strips it of all reference and gives it back charged with colour and material presence.

Her practice is defined by a poetic investigation of materiality, colour and light – objects that appear simultaneously solid and ethereal.  The Candy Column sits at the centre of that. Used as a side table, stool, pedestal or purely as object, it holds its ground in any context.

Colour and height are customisable. Available in diameters of 34 cm, across multiple heights.  Material: high polished polyester resin.
