FOS’s Petite Street Lamp takes a piece of public infrastructure – the small, leaning lamp that marks a corner or a doorway – and relocates it indoors. A cast concrete base, rough and mineral, anchors the work to the floor. From it rises a slim wooden post, jointed with a horizontal brass arm. At the end of the arm, a hand rolled brass shade curls downward, its inner surface catching and returning the light in a warm gold.
The dialogue between materials is exact. The base reads as something dug up – irregular, weighty, almost geological. The post and shade are domestic, even tender. The piece sits on the threshold between sculpture and lighting object, between street and room, between found weight and made grace. It belongs to a longer thread in FOS’s practice, where street furniture and public sculpture are translated into objects that hold a single interior.
A floor-standing piece at 149 cm. Equally at home in a hallway, beside a reading chair, or as a low, warm punctuation in a room.
Available in a Brass & wood version and an aluminium version
