Altar is a collaborative piece made by Alexander Kirkeby and Sigurd Schelde.
The object is an exploration of tacit overlaps and contrasts in the two designers respective practises. Through the process the focus has been to highlight the individual qualities of the materials as they meet; how can the glass manifest light and fluidity and how can the solidity and weight of pewter become even more apparent. The rich heritage of glass and metal is sought to be enabled as a medium, where ornamentation sparks recognisable connotations, but remains unspoken.
