Shared table
This table is developed by the architect duo Slaatto Morsbøl in collaboration with NordSten ApS and Byggeselskabet C. F. Hansen. During the Copenhagen Architecture Biennial last year, the project emerged through two public workshops, in which people of different ages and backgrounds mixed and cast their own tiles, together forming the nearly five-meter-long tabletop.
To avoid the use of virgin raw materials, the tiles were cast with aggregates made from crushed reclaimed brick, concrete, and glass, replacing the natural stone typically used in terrazzo. Each participant selected their own mixtures of materials, giving every tile a unique composition and character, revealed through polishing.
The frame is welded from surplus steel and reclaimed rods sourced from demolition projects by LH Hockerup. The 32 tiles are held in place by the frame alone and can be carried separately when the table is moved, reducing the overall weight. The table measures 91 x 483 cm and can be separated into two sections for easier transport.
All proceeds from the sale of the table are donated to Børns Vilkår, supporting the organization’s work to protect children’s rights and improve the conditions of vulnerable children and young people in Denmark. The auction starts at 2.000,00 € and runs until April 1, during which the table is exhibited at Etage Projects.
