Maloja, Engadin – 22 August 2026
On 22 August, Etage Projects hosted the first gathering of The Great Noon / Der Grosse Mittag, a new year-round cultural programme rooted in the Engadin, founded by Jeanette Apitz and Federica Zambeletti.
hosting.01 took place at the Barn in Capolago, Maloja – the former stable that became Etage Projects’ second home in March 2026, alongside the gallery in Copenhagen. The day marked the opening of Black Mass, the joint residency of artist Julie Lænkholm and artist and designer FOS (Thomas Poulsen), and offered an early glimpse into the work taking shape between them.
It began in the Barn over tea brewed from pine, yarrow and arnica that Julie had gathered in the valley. From there, guests walked towards Blaunca and Plaun da Lej, pausing for a second conversation along the route, then for a picnic overlooking the lake and a guided meditation. Julie’s material and herbal practice met FOS’s work with objects, interiors and social structures, and the day kept returning to a single question: what it means to host – and to be hosted by – a place.
In June, at the start of their residency, Julie and FOS buried textiles in the valley’s soil and left them to take on traces of its earth and minerals. Once unearthed, the fabrics will become new works, shown together with sculptural vessels formed from locally gathered stones when Black Mass opens at the Barn this winter.

hosting.01 is the first in a long-term programme unfolding across the Engadin, with further gatherings through the winter and into 2027 – each developed in dialogue with a local institution, landscape or practitioner. Black Mass opens at the Barn this winter.
