Aviaaja Ezekiassen
Aviaaja Ezekiassen (1989) Cand. Arch. works with space and objects and has been working within exhibition, interior and furniture design since she graduated with a Master of Arts and Architecture from Aarhus School of Architecture in 2015.
Aviaajas work revolves around encounters between design and crafts, design culture and tradition and originality and modernity. Her work is not limited to one or few materials or crafts, but is occupied by investigating e.g. how embroidery can be poetically incorporated in lighting installations or how wooden residues can be sewn together with thread and beads.
With a Greenlandic/Danish origin Aviaaja brings a different design dna, values and aesthetics that she merges consciously into a transnational design language. In 2019 she started her project, Seven Subjects. The project plays out in the intersection between art, crafts and design and aims to describe and (re)define Greenlandic crafts and design in a contemporary perspective or prospective.
