ETAGE PROJECTS ANNOUNCES NEW GALLERY IN MALOJA, ENGADIN
Etage Projects is pleased to announce the opening of a new additional gallery space in Maloja, Engadin, Switzerland. With this expansion, the Copenhagen based gallery establishes a presence in one of Europe’s most historically resonant cultural landscapes, creating a dialogue between contemporary art and design and the region’s remarkable artistic legacy.
For over a century, Maloja and the greater Engadin valley have attracted artists, thinkers and cultural figures drawn to its singular light, dramatic alpine topography and contemplative atmosphere. The region has since maintained a persistent connection to cultural innovation, serving as both retreat and catalyst for creative work. Etage Projects’ new Maloja space builds upon this lineage while extending the gallery’s long-standing commitment to material exploration, cross-disciplinary practices and collectible contemporary design. The program will include curated exhibitions, artist and designer residencies, and site- esponsive projects that engage directly with the landscape, architecture and cultural history of Engadin.
The residency platform will invite selected artists and designers to work in Maloja for focused periods of research and production. This initiative is conceived not only as a retreat, but as a framework for experimentation and exchange, culminating in exhibitions or presentations developed specifically for the space. By situating contemporary practices within a historically charged environment, the gallery aims to foster works that reflect both context and continuity.
For visitors, the Maloja gallery offers an opportunity to encounter works in a setting that encourages deeper engagement. The program will emphasize limited edition and unique works that resonate with the gallery’s curatorial vision while responding to the distinctive alpine surroundings. Private viewings, curated experiences and collaborative projects will form an integral part of the initiative.
With this new chapter, Etage Projects extends its geographical reach while reinforcing its core values: thoughtful curation, rigorous materiality and sustained relationships with artists, designers and clients. Maloja provides not merely a second location, but a site ofreflection and renewal, where contemporary practice enters into conversation with a landscape long associated with artistic ambition and cultural depth.
