‘Light carries information from stars to the cells in our bodies’ is an exhibition of new work accompanied by writing by studio vit. Objects and representations of phenomena from the natural world and space have been cast in aluminium. Parallels are drawn from the objects to our internal world in the form of writing. Connecting the external world with the internal world, mirroring the macro in the micro essentially reflecting on the interconnectedness of all things.
The cast works which are a collection of lighting objects are presented in an installation where individual pieces are as important as the composition they form together. Fragments of writing are included in the exhibition alongside the works creating a framework within which the cast works exists.
studio vit is a London-based design studio founded in 2010 by Swedish designers Helena Jonasson and Veronica Dagnert. They specialize in furniture, lighting, and spatial design, focusing on the interaction of elementary forms and materials. Their work is characterized by a minimalist aesthetic with a strong emphasis on material qualities and the relationship between objects and their surroundings.
