Etage Projects is a Copenhagen-based art and design gallery specializing in a cross-aesthetic method. Actively questioning and pushing the lines between art and design, abstraction and function, Etage Projects works with creatives who form their praxis in-between established notions of contemporary art and design, thereby seeking to extend and to enrich the field of interdisciplinarity and collective culture.

Etage Projects has recently opened a  new gallery space in Maloja, Engadin, Switzerland, extending the Copenhagen program into one of Europe’s most historically resonant cultural landscapes.

The gallery is housed in the only preserved barn from Capolago. Declared Ortsbildprägend (shaping the townscape) and protected under Denkmalschutz (monument protection), the building holds an important place in the architectural heritage of the region. In deliberate contrast, the interior has been conceived as one of the most contemporary exhibition spaces in the valley.

Etage Projects has exhibited in Engadin previously, and over time the region and the people who shape it, have come to hold a special place in the gallery’s history. The opening in Maloja marks a natural continuation of this connection.

The Maloja program will include curated exhibitions, artist and designer residencies, and site responsive projects engaging with the surrounding alpine context.
